In 2003, I made my first trip to Sub-Saharan Africa. For a long time, I had had a longing to know the continent. In Senegal, I was immediately struck by the warmth and embrace of the people. Despite the poverty and apparent injustices, the people rose up to display joy, dignity and grace. Since my trip to Senegal in 2003, I have returned to Africa every summer. I have now visited the Gambia, Mali, Kenya and Tanzania. From each country, I have been enriched with a deeper understanding of Africa and the Africa within me. On this last visit to Kenya and Tanzania, I decided to make more than a superficial connection with Africa. At OneAfricanVillage.com, I hope to build a bridge to the hundreds of people in Africa who have briefly touched my life in a profound way. On this site, you will find resources and discussions involving Africa including: Culture, Politics, Fair Trade, Human Rights, Travel, AIDS, Film, Books and more. You can participate in the Blog, Journals and watch some of my short movies. Perhaps, you will fall in love with Africa as I have.
